Company profile

The quality of your communication determines the quality of your business.

Thank you for taking an interest in what makes our company tick!

I wanted to use this opportunity to explain, for those who are interested, how I got where I am and why I felt the need to create Well Presented as well as why I believe the quality of your communication determines the quality of your business. After all, who am I to tell people how to communicate? Why should you pay any attention to what I have to say?

Well, as you asked (or at least I asked on your behalf!) I’ll tell you.

I didn’t know it at the time, but I have spent most of my working life learning the art of excellent communication, mostly by being thrown in at the deep end. As a quality engineer and, subsequently, a sales engineer I was constantly learning ways to communicate effectively.

As a quality engineer I found that I was expected to deliver training and presentations on quality tools and initiatives to groups that often included my direct mangers. This was excellent motivation for learning presentation skills.

I also found that dealing with irate customers when things went wrong was an amazing opportunity to practice communication skills! I relished the challenges and found that I really enjoyed that part of the job.

Being a shameless pleasure seeker, I wanted to do even more of what I loved (working directly with people and solving problems) and, quite frankly, less of what I didn’t like - the paperwork, so I became a salesman.

As a salesman I knew that communication was the key skill and set about learning better ways to do it, however I also learned that there was still quite a lot of paperwork! Still, I was undeterred and enjoyed all the new opportunities to meet people and build great working relationships.

The common thread throughout this time was that I had the most fun when I was communicating with people or learning how to improve it. Whether I was training, presenting or on a one to one sales visit I loved what I was doing.

Being a shameless pleasure seeker, I wanted to do even more of what I loved and less of what I didn’t like - the paperwork. It occurred to me that there was really only one way I was going to find a company that would let me do exactly what I wanted. So I created Well Presented.

So now I spend most of my time working with people and sharing the skills that I (and my talented fellow trainers) have learned even if I haven’t entirely escaped the paperwork.

Why is any of this relevant to you? Well, I think the most important thing I want you to understand is the passion that I have for great communication and how that informs the way that Well Presented operates.

The selection of courses available (including those that we are currently developing) are all centred around communication. The reason for communication being the focus is simple; it doesn’t matter if you are delivering a presentation, giving a speech, chairing a meeting, heading up a team or even if you just want to be a more useful member of a team; the fastest way to get better results, to give yourself an edge over others, is to communicate more effectively.

That’s it.

Nothing is faster or more effective (I know that sounds like an advert for painkillers but it’s true nonetheless).

The quality of your communication determines the quality of your business.

I firmly believe that, even if you have all the right systems and tools to perform well, if you communicate poorly you will never achieve anything like the results that you are capable of.

So, there it is. My mission and why it matters to me. I want you to realise your potential through great communication.

If you have reached this far down the page then thank you for sticking with it!

If you would like to know more about how we can help you then have a look at our [presentation skills], [communication skills] and [team building skills] courses and learn how you too can be Well Presented.
